Tips for planning your pumpkin-picking trip
Pumpkin events can sell out quickly, particularly during the October school holidays, so book ahead wherever possible. Check whether a pumpkin is included in the admission price, as some venues charge separately or include pumpkins only with children’s tickets.
Most patches are held on working farms and will continue in light rain, which means wellies, waterproof coats and a change of clothes for younger visitors are sensible additions to the car.
Once you get your pumpkin home, do not let the inside go to waste. The flesh can be roasted for soup, curry, risotto or baking, while washed and seasoned seeds make a crunchy autumn snack. After all,
Seasonal dates, activities, accessibility arrangements and ticket inclusions may change, so always check directly with the venue before travelling.
The best pumpkin-patch adventure should taste as good as it looks.
